Highlights from this issue:
TOP STORIES:
- Greek troubles weaken the Polish currency (page 4) The effects of the Greek financial crisis washed up on Poland’s shores, weakening the zloty and leading the deputy governor of the central bank to say that the country may have to delay its entry into the euro zone. Donald Tusk, the prime minister, said that protecting the national economy was now the first priority. However, as this issue of news2biz was going to print, investors swarmed to buy the Polish currency and stocks, encouraged by the euro stabilization package, approved by EU ministers.
- Abris & partners buy leading CFM company Masterlease (page 13) GM subsidiary GMAC has sold Poland's top car fleet management company Masterlease to the latter's bosses backed by private equity company Abris Capital Partners. The PLN 700m transaction, which is said to be the largest ever management buyout in CEE, was financed in part by a giant bond issue on the Warsaw bourse's Catalyst market.
